Pakistan Air Chief calls on Indonesian Defence Minister
Chief of the Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt during his ongoing visit to Jakarta on Thursday called on Indonesian Defence Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro in Jakarta.During the meeting both sides discussed issues of mutual interest including bilateral defence cooperation. The Defence Minister of Indonesia fondly recalled his visit to Pakistan last year, a message received here from Jakarta said.The Air Chief briefed the Defence Minister about the regional situation and Pakistan’s contribution in its fight against global terrorism.The Air Chief said that Kashmir was the core issue between Pakistan and India. He briefed him about the recent violations by the Indian security forces on LoC.He said that Pakistan wanted to have normal relations with India as peace and stability in this region would be in the mutual interest of the two countries.The Air Chief further said that Pakistan was still holding about three million Afghan refugees on its territory, adding that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with its neighbours.
Both sides discussed enhancement of cooperation in defence field including training and exchange of visits from both sides on regular basis.
